Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly and Chairman, Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, Senator Ned Nwoko, has reaffirmed his commitment to the creation of Anioma State during a live X Space discussion on Sunday evening.
The session, part of The Nigerian Political Pulse Check, attracted over nine thousand of listeners from Nigeria and the diaspora, eager to hear Nwoko's perspective on the initiative.
Responding to questions from the audience, Senator Nwoko underscored the viability of Anioma as a new state, emphasizing its distinct cultural heritage and significant economic potential.
He argued that Anioma stands out as the most viable option among proposed new states, with a foundation that could support sustainable growth and prosperity for residents and investors alike.
"Anioma is not only culturally distinct but economically promising," Nwoko said, highlighting the region's extensive agricultural resources, established trade networks, and emerging industries. According to Nwoko, these strengths position Anioma as a self-sustaining entity capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic landscape.
Nwoko also addressed concerns about the feasibility of the state, dispelling misconceptions regarding its viability and underscoring Anioma's readiness for statehood. He highlighted that the proposed state possesses a robust economic base and a clear roadmap for development, making it uniquely suited to thrive as an independent administrative entity.
