The senator representing Delta Central on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ede Dafinone, gifted 35 bags of rice to Igbo community in Sapele, as they celebrates this year’s New Yam Festival and as part of his ongoing commitment to supporting his constituents.

Represented by Chief Dr. Patrick Akamovba, Senator Dafinone's liaison officer in Sapele, he noted that this act of goodwill reflects Dafinone’s desire to connect with and support local traditions.

Akamovba recalled the senator’s pre-election visit to the community, where he received their endorsement. “Today’s gesture is a continuation of that promise. Senator Dafinone wants you to know he’s part of you,” Akamovba said.

He further emphasized that Dafinone values community engagement. "Today, we join the Igbos in Sapele to celebrate the New Yam Festival and in the spirit of generosity, Senator Dafinone has directed me to present these bags of rice to enhance the festivities and show solidarity with the Igbo community,” Akamovba stated, describing the Igbo people as “peaceful and loving.”

In response, Chief Tony Okoro, Onowu na Palace, expressed gratitude for the senator’s support, promising the community’s continued backing for him. “We appreciate Senator Dafinone’s efforts and will always remember those who remember us,” Okoro remarked.

The event drew notable attendees, including Chief Titus Ezewuzie, Ichie Akubuogoi Naihe Mbosi, Eze Igbo Na Sapele; Assistant Commissioner of Police, Innocent Umeru, Sapele Area Commander; and other palace chiefs and dignitaries.

This gesture follows Senator Dafinone’s recent charitable initiatives, such as his donations to flood victims in Evwreni and other areas within Delta Central Senatorial District, further underscoring his commitment to community welfare and support.
