SEEFOR seeks media cooperation in publicising Okowa’s developmental strides in Delta State

Project Coordinator of the Delta SEEFOR Project, Mr. Benson Ojoko, has urged journalists in the state to continue to enlighten the public on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s achievements in the area of infrastructural development and youths empowerment programmes , especially through the SEEFOR Project.

Mr Ojoko, who gave the advice in Asaba when the Executive and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba chapel led by its  Chairman, Comrade Gilbert Olie paid him a courtesy visit in his office, enjoined  journalists to always be objective in their reportage of activities of the government describing the press as the watchdog of the society.
He said that the objective of SEEFOR Project was to enhance youths employment opportunities and access to socio-economic services while improving the Public Financial Management System of the participating states.
He reiterated that SEEFOR Project had employed over 8,500 youths in the state since its inception, stating that the project was an intervention of the World Bank and European Union aimed at complementing government’s developmental drives in the state.
Mr. Ojoko, who pledged SEEFOR Project’s support for DBS  Asaba NUJ,  charged the press to rise up to its statutory responsibility of awareness creation and information dissemination and shun sensationalism in their reportage of issues .
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), DBS Asaba Chapel, Comrade Gilbert Olie, said that the purpose of the visit was to familiarize with the management of SEEFOR Project and to solicit for assistance in the sponsorship of its forthcoming DBS Asaba Week.
Comrade Olie disclosed that his chapel was overwhelmed by the achievements of SEEFOR Project in the area of employment generation and infrastructural development.
He commended the Project Coordinator, Mr Benson Ojoko for success recorded so far and appealed to the state government to ensure the continued existence of the SEEFOR Project beyond 2019.
The chairman noted that the development template of SEEFOR Project was commendable, affirming that it had enhanced rural development and the wellbeing of the citizens of the state
