Royal Family Knocks Dosunmu Branch Over Selection Of Another Oba-elect

The Royal Family of the Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Moba Land has publicly criticized the Dosunmu branch for allegedly selecting two different candidates for the vacant Onikoyi stool.

The family claims that the actions of the Dosunmu branch are illegal and go against the Onikoyi Chieftaincy Declaration of 2006.

The Onikoyi Royal Family has maintained that Prince Abdul Waliu Omogbolahan Oladimeji Sulaimon remains the authentic candidate for the Oba-elect, as he was duly selected in accordance with the Onikoyi Chieftaincy Declaration.

The family has also stated that the emergence of the two factional candidates from the Dosunmu branch cannot stand the test of any legal scrutiny.

This development has caused quite a stir within the community, with many people questioning the motives behind the Dosunmu branch’s actions.

The Royal Family has urged the Eti-Osa Local Government, Eti-Osa Local Government Chieftaincy Committee, and the Lagos State Government to discountenance the charade that led to the emergence of the two factional candidates.

The Onikoyi Chieftaincy Declaration, 2006, has been a point of contention in the past, with the Dosunmu branch having previously lost a case against former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2009.

The declaration was upheld as a valid subsidiary legislation that governs the selection of the Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Moba Land.
