Geovany Quenda can't wait to get started at Chelsea. The 19-year-old winger has completed his £40 million transfer from Sporting CP and signed an eight-year deal with the Premier League club.
Quenda becomes the second major signing for Chelsea under head coach Xabi Alonso, following full-back Marco Palestra's £42 million arrival from Atalanta. Although Chelsea agreed the deal with Sporting back in March 2025 during Enzo Maresca's time as manager, the Portugal Under-21 international has now officially sealed his move to Stamford Bridge.
The versatile attacker can play as a winger, attacking midfielder or wing-back. He's already been training at Chelsea's Cobham base this week ahead of the squad's pre-season return.
"It feels great to be here," Quenda told reporters after his unveiling. He added: "Chelsea is a great team, and I am excited to play here at Stamford Bridge."
The teenager praised the club's faith in young players like himself. "I am proud to be part of this club," he said.
Quenda highlighted his work ethic and ambition for the future. "I'm a very hard-working young person, and I like to help my team," he explained.
"I want to be someone known for having the right mentality to help my teammates and who does their best for the club to win trophies."
The winger is keen to work with Alonso and his new teammates. He's expected to join the first-team squad immediately for pre-season preparations.
Quenda leaves Sporting after 86 senior appearances, including 16 in the UEFA Champions League. He developed under former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim and is regarded as one of Portugal's brightest young talents.
He'll now look to continue his rapid development at Chelsea as the Blues prepare for the new Premier League season.
