Ogun police officers recovered a single-barrel shotgun and six live rounds during a stop-and-search operation along Ayetoro-Olodo Road. An unidentified suspect on an unregistered motorcycle spotted the officers and took off.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident to reporters on Tuesday. The fleeing rider dumped the gun and ammunition in a bush before escaping, he noted.

Officers quickly found and secured both items at the command's armoury. Investigators are working to track down the suspect.

Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni praised the operatives for their alertness. He stressed the command's zero-tolerance approach toward unlicensed firearms in the state.

Ojajuni told the public that authorities are pursuing the case vigorously. Criminal activities won't be tolerated across Ogun, he assured residents.
