Kebbi State Police Command has flatly rejected claims that schools across the state have shut down due to security threats. Spokesman SP Bashir Usman made the denial in a statement released Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.
He dismissed talk of mass closures, abductions, and parents withdrawing their children. According to him, such reports simply aren't true.
Usman stressed that teaching continues normally throughout Kebbi. Students recently returned for the new academic term, he noted.
Graduating students are safely taking their Senior School Certificate Examination across various centres in the state. He added that the school calendar remains unchanged and under Education Ministry control.
No security issues have disrupted the academic schedule, Usman insisted. Security agencies and local vigilante groups are actively patrolling, he said.
The police spokesman noted they're conducting intelligence-based operations to preserve order and safeguard communities. Recent arrests and neutralisation of criminals prove these efforts work, according to him.
Usman urged Nigerians to ignore the false stories. He warned such rumours could spark unnecessary panic in the state.
