The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four men in connection with an armed robbery at the NYSC lodge in Yola's Specialist Hospital area.

Police identified the suspects as Elkana Ishaya, Mubarak Abubakar, Musa Umar and Kabiru Tanko. Officers from Karewa Area Command recovered four stolen mobile phones during their investigation.

On June 27, the four men forced their way into the facility known as Corpers' Lodge while carrying weapons, a police statement said. They robbed approximately 36 corps members of their belongings and phones.

The command confirmed the suspects face charges including criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of weapons, unlawful entry and robbery. Investigators expect to recover more stolen phones and apprehend additional gang members still at large.

"The suspects will be charged to court once investigation concludes," the police said in their statement. The force pledged it would intensify efforts to track down remaining members of the gang.

Kabir Hassan, the police commissioner, told residents the force remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state. He urged the public to report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station immediately.

"Corps members can go about their duties without fear," Hassan said. The assurance comes as security concerns affect the welfare of youth service personnel deployed across Nigeria's states.

Hassan advised residents not to hesitate when reporting criminal activity. Quick action from community members helps police prevent crime before it escalates, he noted.
