Police Raid Suspected Kidnappers’ Den in Nasarawa State, Arrest 109 Illegal Miners

The Nasarawa State Police Command, led by Commissioner CP Umar Shehu Nadada, in collaboration with the Vigilante group of Nasarawa Eggon LGA, successfully conducted a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ den at Alogani mountains.

The operation, which took place on February 20, 2024, targeted a mountain stretch from Mada station to Wakama, known to be used by kidnappers as a hideout.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that the kidnappers had fled, leaving behind their camps.

Despite the absence of the kidnappers, the raid resulted in the arrest of 109 suspects engaged in the illegal mining of solid minerals such as Topaz, Tin, and Aquamarine.

The suspects were found with various items including a Dane gun, cutlasses, knives, and illegally mined solid minerals, all of which were recovered as exhibits.

The arrested suspects are said to have been profiled, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain their involvement in other criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police has reiterated the command’s commitment to continuous clampdowns and raids on criminal hideouts in the state, warning all criminals to desist from their activities.

This successful raid by the Nasarawa State Police Command is a significant step in combating criminal activities in the state and ensuring the safety of its residents.
