Police in Delta State have arrested five suspects and seized a homemade revolver pistol and 10 bags of suspected Indian hemp. The operations took place over two days in late May.
On May 30, 2026, at around 5:30 a.m., officers from the Asaba Area Command were on routine patrol near NTA Asaba. They stopped and searched three men they found suspicious.
Musa Sule, 22, Moses Sunday, 26, and Osama Ibrahim, 25, were the three arrested. During the search, operatives found a locally made revolver and other weapons on them.
The second operation happened a day earlier. On May 29 at about 4:00 a.m., the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) was conducting checks on the Onitsha-Benin Expressway.
Officers flagged down an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz station wagon bearing registration number BEN 982 TE. Inside were Hilary Aloma and Oki Joseph, also known as "Big Joe".
A thorough search of the vehicle turned up 10 bags containing suspected Indian hemp. The drugs had been hidden inside the car.
Investigators determined the contraband was being moved from Edo State to Awka in Anambra State. Police intercepted the vehicle before it could reach its destination.
Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests and seizures. He noted that all suspects are in custody and evidence has been preserved.
Edafe added that investigations are continuing. Police want to uncover the entire criminal operation and identify other people involved in the illegal drug trade.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi praised the operatives involved. He commended their vigilance, professionalism and hard work on the job.
CP Oyeniyi warned criminals to stop their activities immediately. He said anyone involved in illegal firearms, drug trafficking, cult activities or other crimes would face serious consequences.
