Police in Kaduna State have arrested twelve suspected kidnappers in the past fourteen days. Authorities also nabbed thirteen suspects linked to culpable homicide and four car thieves during the same period.
Officers recovered four stolen vehicles and 2,700 sachets of Tramadol alongside other narcotics. State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu announced the arrests at a briefing on Monday.
Rabiu noted that the command's approach combines intelligence work with strategic operations. He emphasized partnerships with other security bodies and community members as crucial to success.
According to him, recent operations have netted dangerous criminals including rapists and murderers. Illegal firearms and stolen goods were also recovered during these raids.
He stressed the command's resolve to disrupt criminal networks across the state. "We'll keep pushing intelligence work and community engagement," Rabiu told journalists.
The police boss pledged sustained operations against banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery. Vehicle theft and other related crimes remain targets of ongoing enforcement efforts.
Rabiu commended Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for his backing. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State also earned his praise for supporting the command.
He acknowledged Kaduna residents for providing timely intelligence to police. Their cooperation, he said, directly enabled these recent successes.
Rabiu called on the public to stay alert and work with officers. Building a safer Kaduna requires collective action, he stressed.
He made a separate appeal to the judiciary about suspect parades. Allowing police to display arrested individuals — especially those caught with evidence — helps communities stay informed.
Such displays boost public vigilance and prevent crime, according to the CP. They also show communities what police are doing to keep them safe.
