Patrice Evra has tipped Morocco to emerge as a surprise package at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The former France defender made the bold prediction before Morocco's quarter-final meeting with France on Thursday night.

Evra told Stake that a dark horse doesn't necessarily have the most star-studded squad. "Sometimes it is the team that is willing to suffer the most," the ex-Manchester United man said, according to Metro UK.

He backed Morocco over other remaining contenders in the tournament. "If I have to pick one from the teams still alive, I like Morocco," Evra added.

The defender highlighted what makes the Atlas Lions dangerous in knockout matches. "They have character, they fight, they believe, and nobody enjoys playing against them in knockout football," he told the betting platform.

Evra's assessment underscores Morocco's growth as a competitive force in world football. The North African nation has impressed observers with their tactical discipline and resilience throughout the tournament.

His remarks come as Morocco prepares for a high-stakes clash against his former nation. The Atlas Lions will look to prove they belong among the world's elite.
