Orere-Ewu Bridge: Agbi inspects project, commends Contractor, Obakpo Engineering for high quality job

The Special Adviser to the Delta State governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Dr. GoodNews Agbi, has expressed commendation and satisfaction with the progress of construction work carried out by Obakpo Engineering Limited on the Orere-Ewu bridge in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

The Orere-Ewu bridge project, spanning over 500 meters, was awarded during the tenure of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s past administration, as reported by Advocate.ng.

During the inspection of the Orere-Ewu bridge, along with the construction progress of Oreh Road from Isoko junction in Ughelli North Local Government Area and the construction of Edo Road from Isoko Road to Agbarho-otor, Dr. Agbi was accompanied by Mrs. Esejo, the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate of Project Monitoring and Audit, Chief Francis Ighoraye (EA), Sir Boniface Imodje (SSA), Pastor Ken Otuya (SSA), Engr Yebu Ladina, and Odio Odafe (SA). The team was impressed by the quality of construction and the diligent supervision evident at the site.

During the briefing by the chairman of Obakpo Engineering Limited, Olorogun John Oguma, Dr. Agbi learned that all aspects of the bridge’s supervision and construction were undertaken by Nigerian engineers and specialists.

Dr. Agbi and his team were particularly pleased that the indigenous contractor successfully constructed a parabolic bridge with impeccable abutments, piers, and precast beams.

According to him, “On the approach, artistically it is a very good job and I am proud of it that a Nigerian, an African is doing this good job and all the team of Engineers are Deltans and Nigerians.

“Instead of bringing foreign hands as engineers who might not be Engineers in their countries to come and take the jobs we can do successfully, we should patronize and engage our people who are specialists.”

“I am glad with what I saw today and can say generally that I am proud of Obakpor Engineering for what they have done on this parabolic bridge and anybody that comes here won’t believe that this bridge was executed by Obakpor Engineering with Nigeria Engineers.”
