Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has assured prospective nursing students that admission into the State Colleges of Nursing Sciences for the 2024/2025 session will be strictly merit-based.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the Commissioner cautioned applicants against engaging in fraudulent activities, emphasizing that no shortcuts would be tolerated in the admissions process. He highlighted reports of a certain "Barrister Barry," who has been illegally collecting money from individuals, promising them admission into the nursing colleges.

Dr. Onojaeme warned parents, students, and the public not to engage with the said individual, stating, "Barrister Barry is not an employee of the Ministry of Health or any of the Colleges of Nursing Sciences in Delta State."

He further cautioned against anyone posing as an agent of Ministry staff or government officials, offering guaranteed admission. "Anyone caught engaging in such fraudulent practices will face the full consequences of the law," he said.

The Commissioner reiterated that admission will be based solely on merit, advising candidates who purchased entrance forms to prepare thoroughly, as only those who meet the required cut-off mark will be granted admission.
