The Old Grammarian Society (OGS) of CMS Grammar School, Bariga, says it will inaugurate a water supply system with over 40, 000 litres storage capacity during its  forthcoming 164th Founders Day.
Mr Olu Vincent, President of OGS, disclosed this at a press briefing  held on Tuesday in the school, in preparation for the 2023 Founders Day celebration billed for June.
He said that the system, provided by the 1983 celebrating set, includes a treatment plant that can supply water to the entire school.
“The Old Boys believe that we owe the school an obligation to ensure restoration of the glory of our dear school, as no sacrifice or contribution will be considered too big or great.
“Only few weeks ago, Dr. Sabu Jacobs, for decades in the 60s, 70s and 80s before returning home after retirement, donated N6.49 million, on behalf of himself and his younger brother, both old boys, to cater for the school fees of some indigent students.
“In continuation of our computerisation programme, OGS Americas has just completed the laying of optic fibre connecting every building in the school,” he added.
He listed  other activities for the 164th anniversary as prize giving day for students for all subjects and in different categories, as well as career talk.
The presentations, according to him, will be made by notable old boys who have excelled in their chosen careers.
He announced other projects completed  by the Old Boys as Olympic size swimming pool, Air-conditioned hall with separate 100KVA generator by OGS Americas and modern basketball court with spectators stand.
Vincent also cited a newly commissioned state of the art E-learning centre with 350 work stations, facilitated by an old boy, describing it as the first of its kind in Nigeria, and a modern sick-bay provided by OGS Americas.
Revd. Jacob Ogunyinka, Principal of CMS, said that the contributions and support of OGS have been making great impact in the college, lives of students and members of staff, as well as security.
While thanking the OGS for the  consistency, Ogunyinka mentioned that the intranet has created an enabling environment for teachers to source materials online and improved teaching/learning methods.
“The CCTV camera which we call 4G surveillance camera was donated by the Old Boys that finished just last year, which has been helping a great deal to monitor the school premises, even from my office.
“This has brought a great improvement to our security architecture in the school; also contributions of OGS in Americans, U.K and the entire Europe, they have done marvelously well.
“Most of all is the solar project that has helped us very well;  before, we used to buy diesel every month, but that has stopped. We buy only once in three months,” he said.
The CMS Grammar School Principal appreciated the donation of e-library by Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, which was being prepared for use as  CBT JAMB centre by 2024.
He said Ashafa and his family also gave N10 million as money for maintenance of the building.
”We are so grateful to the old boy, and pray that God will continue blessing them in Jesus name.,” he said.
