Okpe Union North America donates free textbooks to pupils in Sapele

The Okpe Union North America on Wednesday donated free Mathematics and English textbooks to primary school pupils in Okpe and Sapele local government area of Delta State.

 

The President General of the Okpe Union North America, Mr. Edward Ederaine who distributed the textbooks worth millions of naira to pupils of Ethiope primary school Okirigwre, Sapele, stated that they have visited Umiaghwa primary school, Oviri Okpe primary school Adeje, Oyenke, Ikeresan, Ekoko primary school and many other schools in Sapele and Okpe communities.

He advised Okpe leaders to be united adding that Okpe leaders should be sincere to themselves and the need to develop from the primary school is very important because the Okpe nations are suffering.

“We decided to give out textbooks to schools because many parents are not able to afford it. We are from this community and we know that many Okpe people are suffering and we want the pupils to have a solid foundation” he said.

Hon. Dickson Omoraka the former Okirigwre community Chairman, while addressing journalists commended the Okpe Union North America for their good works adding that it will bring succor to the parents that can’t afford to buy text books for their children. “I want to thank the Okpe Union North America for their intervention. I am happy that the children have access to books and we really appreciate their efforts. Okpe people should emulate them,” he said.

 

In response the Headmistress of Ethiope primary school Okirigwre, Mrs Agino however expresses her gratitude to the Okpe Union North America for their assistance, saying, “I am very happy because many parents are not able to buy mathematics and English text book for their children.”

 

“But today the Okpe Union North America came to distribute textbooks to my school, am very happy and God will continue to bless them” she said.

 

She added that those who are in position to help should help the pupils because it will be of great help to some parents that can’t afford to buy books but with this they will be happy.
