Ochor Foundation empowers 22 young women with starter packs; charge them to use it judiciously

Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor, through the Ochor Ochor Foundation, on Saturday, empowered 22 members of Delta Queens, one of the groups that supported him during 2019 election with starters’ packs; charging them to use it judiciously to change their financial status.

The Deputy Speaker while addressing the beneficiaries at the event which held at market square, Umutu, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, said that the empowerment programme will be quarterly and therefore, assured those that did not get in the first phase to be patient as everyone will be carried along.

Ochor while charging the beneficiaries not to sell items said, “I urge you to ensure that you make good use of this empowerment not only for the betterment of yourselves and families but as ambassadors of the Foundation and shining examples.

“This is just the beginning of our empowerment programme which will be fulfilled in phases for our people and I want to assure you that we will continue to touch lives and impact on our people positively to justify the mandate you have given us.”

 The Deputy Speaker also calls for the unity of the Ndokwa nation saying, “once again appeal to the great people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani nation to be united on issues of Ndokwa/Ukwuani development.

“There must be unity of purpose in our agitation irrespective of our political and ideological differences. The overriding interest of Ndokwa/Ukwuani must always be our primary motivation and consideration in all our actions.”

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Charles Emetulu, Member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, charged the beneficiaries to see this as an opportunity to better the lives, stressing that if the items were judiciously use, it will lead to their economic emancipation.

He equally haps on the need for the Ndokwa nation to be united and speak with one voice on issues that affects the Ndokwa nation, adding that without unity of purpose there is little that could be achieved in terms of attracting development to the Ndokwa nation.

Speaking also, Dr. Ossai Samuel, Commissioner representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the board of DESOPADEC, who is a co-sponsor of the empowerment programme said that he key-in into the project to support the Ochor Ochor Foundation to bring smile to the face of the people.

He added that the empowerment programme is in line with Dr Ifeanyi Okowa led administration of building a stronger Delta, promising to continue to support the Deputy Speaker’s programmes to alleviate the plight of their people.
