The Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, commended the recent rating of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) as an "excellent performance."
The NIPR’s endorsement reflects the Governor's progress in sustainable development without accruing external debt, emphasizing prudent resource management.
Dr. Oghenesivbe, speaking on a live radio program, highlighted the NIPR delegation’s visit to Delta’s infrastructural projects, including the Obo River mega bridge and the 120-kilometer Ughelli-Asaba road, both under construction by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). NIPR Vice President, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, was reportedly impressed by the scope and engineering excellence of these initiatives, which support Oborevwori’s MORE agenda aimed at advancing Delta State’s socioeconomic framework.
Highlighting ongoing agricultural efforts, Dr. Oghenesivbe noted the administration’s commitment to a statewide agricultural revolution through the Delta CARES initiative, which has provided thousands of local farmers and young entrepreneurs with financial assistance, farming equipment, fertilizers, and seedlings. These efforts align with the Governor’s broader vision for economic resilience and community empowerment.
Further, the State Bureau for Job and Wealth Creation is currently reviewing applications to empower an additional 2,000 entrepreneurs to stimulate the local economy. Dr. Oghenesivbe also noted the Governor’s recent inclusion of Delta State Law School students in the bursary program, broadening the administration's support for educational advancement.
Reflecting on NIPR’s support, Dr. Oghenesivbe expressed gratitude for the recognition of Governor Oborevwori’s impactful projects. He noted that both Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, responsible for the flyover projects, and CCECC have adhered to high-quality standards, with NIPR leaders lauding the state’s fiscal discipline and commitment to transformative infrastructure without resorting to loans.
