Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims of Sunday’s tragic fire incident caused by a fallen diesel tanker in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state.

The diesel tanker, reportedly suffering a brake failure, overturned at a traffic light junction and exploded into a massive fireball, resulting in the death of four individuals. Three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the explosion and subsequent inferno.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori commiserated with the Ika South Local Government and the people of the area over the devastating incident that claimed lives and destroyed property. The Governor described the tragedy as horrifying and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured as well as strength and fortitude for the bereaved families.

The Governor directed the Delta State Ministry of Health, the State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant authorities to expedite remedial actions and provide immediate assistance to all victims of the incident.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that those affected receive the necessary medical attention and support to cope with the aftermath of the tragedy.

Governor Oborevwori also commended the swift response of the Fire Service, security agencies, and the good people of Ika South Local Government who worked tirelessly to extinguish the inferno and provide assistance to the victims. Their efforts, he noted, underscored the resilience and unity of the community in times of crisis.

As the state mourns this tragic loss, Governor Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and welfare of all residents. He called for renewed vigilance and proactive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, while pledging continued support to strengthen emergency response systems across the state.
