In an effort to enhance the quality of life and foster development within the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, His Majesty, Obi Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, has presented a new 500kVA transformer to the Ogbe Ofu Community.
This installation, which replaces the community’s ageing and failing 300kVA unit, is expected to restore stable electricity and ensure a reliable power supply for both residential and commercial use.
During the handover ceremony, the Palace Administrator, Mrs. Gold Udenwa Anwuzia, reaffirmed His Majesty’s commitment to providing electricity to all parts of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom. Obi Ifechukwude, a distinguished developmental economist, emphasized the essential role that electricity plays in driving local productivity, supporting small businesses, and improving the overall standard of living. He pointed out that without a stable power supply, meaningful development remains unattainable, leaving communities unable to reach their full potential.

“Electricity is the backbone of any growing community,” Mrs Anwuzia said on behalf of HRM Obi Ifechukwude during the presentation. “We are determined to ensure that every corner of Ogwashi-Uku is fully powered. Development cannot thrive in darkness. When our people have reliable electricity, they can be more productive, run their businesses effectively, and contribute to the prosperity of our kingdom.”
The replacement of the faulty transformer with a higher-capacity 500kVA unit is part of the monarch's broader strategy to equip the kingdom with essential infrastructure. Under Obi Ifechukwude's reign, Ogwashi-Uku has made substantial progress in enhancing local amenities, with a particular focus on electricity, security, and economic growth.
Residents of Ogbe Ofu expressed their gratitude to His Majesty for his timely intervention. They noted that the lack of stable electricity had severely impacted business activities and daily life. With the new transformer in place, the community is hopeful that power outages will soon be a thing of the past, paving the way for renewed economic and social growth.
