OB3 Gas Pipeline Project Nears Completion: Minister Ekpo Sets March 2024 Deadline

Nigeria’s Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has announced that the Obrikom, Obiafo, and Oben (OB3) gas pipeline project will be completed by March 2024.

The announcement was made on February 27, 2024, during a meeting with stakeholders in the Nigerian gas industry.

The OB3 gas pipeline project is a crucial component of Nigeria’s gas infrastructure, connecting the South-South and South-East regions of the country to the South-West and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project.

The completion of this project is expected to significantly improve gas supply and distribution in the country, boosting economic growth and providing a cleaner energy source for various industries.

Minister Ekpo emphasized the importance of meeting the deadline, stating that the project’s timely completion is essential for the country’s energy security and economic development.

He also highlighted the need for collaboration between government agencies, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.

The OB3 gas pipeline project is a joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and various private sector partners.

The project is being implemented under the Nigerian Gas Master Plan, which aims to develop the country’s gas resources and improve gas infrastructure.

As Nigeria continues to work towards a more diversified and sustainable energy mix, the completion of the OB3 gas pipeline project in March 2024 will be a significant milestone in the country’s energy transformation.
