Economic Hardship: Borno Workers Join NLC Protest

Workers in Borno State have joined the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in a nationwide peaceful rally to protest the economic hardship facing the country.

The protest, which took place on February 27, 2024, saw workers from various sectors of the state’s economy coming together to voice their concerns.

The protesters gathered just a few meters outside the gate of the NLC secretariat and walked to the junction of the road leading to Vice President Kashim Shettima’s residence.

However, they were stopped at the junction by security personnel, preventing them from reaching the Vice President’s residence.

The rally aimed to draw attention to the plight of workers and their families, who are struggling to make ends meet in the face of the current economic challenges.

The NLC has been vocal about the need for better workers’ rights and improved living conditions, and the protest in Borno State is part of a larger effort to raise awareness and demand change.

As the Nigerian economy continues to face challenges, the NLC and its supporters are determined to keep the pressure on the government to address the concerns of workers and ensure that their rights are protected.

The rally in Borno State is a clear indication that the struggle for better working conditions and a more equitable society is far from over.
