Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator Ned Nwoko, has called on lawyers to actively challenge the political system and seek justice at every turn.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he urged lawyers to embrace advocacy with courage, stating that any lawyer hesitant to take on challenging cases may struggle to advance in their career. According to Nwoko, the core duty of a lawyer is to advocate for the people without fear or favour.
This call to action was part of Senator Nwaoko's address at an investiture ceremony in Abuja, where he celebrated the elevation of several lawyers to Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
Beyond his encouragement to the legal community, Senator Nwoko has also been a relentless advocate for the development of his Delta North Senatorial district.
Since taking office in June 2023, he has introduced bills, initiated motions, and engaged various government agencies to uplift the lives of Nigerians, especially his Anioma people.
A dedicated philanthropist, Nwoko has launched several community-oriented initiatives aimed at improving living standards and creating economic opportunities for Delta North residents.
Determined to deliver for his district, he has actively pursued infrastructure improvements, including meeting with the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the head of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to expedite repairs on deteriorating federal roads in Delta North.
One of Nwoko’s latest efforts includes a bill proposing the upgrade of the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Asaba to a Federal University of Technology. This move, widely praised by his constituents, underscores his vision for Delta North’s future, positioning Asaba as an educational hub and establishing Nwoko as a transformative leader.
Nwoko’s progressive approach has earned him admiration both within and beyond Delta North, with many saying that his short tenure has already brought meaningful change. His ambitious vision includes quality healthcare, improved road infrastructure, and greater educational opportunities nationwide.
With a legacy of public service, including his tenure in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, Nwoko is recognized among his Senate peers for his active legislative work and leadership. He also contributed to the establishment of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, advocating for Western accountability for historical injustices against Africa.
As Senator Nwoko continues to deliver on his promises, he calls on the Anioma people and supporters throughout Delta North to rally behind his vision. “This is a time for unity,” he urges, underscoring his commitment to Delta North’s development and his clear vision for a brighter future for Nigeria.
