In a recent leadership change within the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ogun chapter, Noah Sewakanu has assumed the role of Chairman following the retirement of his predecessor, Abiodun Akinola.
The event took place in Imeko, Ogun, on February 21, 2024.
During his inauguration, Sewakanu pledged to uphold an open-door policy, ensuring that all members of the union will be allowed to contribute to the growth and development of the union.
He also promised to be an impartial leader, maintaining the ethics and ethos of the union.
Sewakanu’s leadership will focus on strengthening the relationship between the union and all education agencies in the state, such as the Ministry of Education, State Universal Basic Education Board, Teaching Service Commission, and the Principals and Headmasters general office.
The outgoing Chairman, Abiodun Akinola, advised members of the union to support Sewakanu and assured him of a successful tenure.
He also promised to continue supporting the new Chairman even after his retirement from the position.
NUT President, Titus Amba, represented by National Social Secretary, Titilope Adebayo, encouraged the new Chairman to follow the good path of his predecessor and maintain a strong commitment to the union’s activities.
The new leadership of the Ogun NUT chapter under the guidance of Noah Sewakanu promises a more inclusive and transparent approach to union activities, with a focus on strengthening relationships and promoting growth and development in the education sector.
