NLC President Ajaero Urges Government to Approve New Minimum Wage Amidst Rising Hardship

At the 11th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, expressed his concern over the worsening hardship in the country.

Ajaero urged the government to approve a new minimum wage to ease the pressure of the cost of living in Nigeria.

Ajaero highlighted the increasing scarcity of food in the country, which has led to Nigerians resorting to raiding food trucks and warehouses for sustenance.

He emphasized the government’s responsibility to fulfill its duties to the people and address the growing issue of hunger.

He also noted that the government’s policies have played a significant role in the impoverishment of the people and the erosion of their values.

The NLC President dismissed the notion that external forces are sponsoring protests against the government, stating that the root cause of the unrest is the government’s failure to address the needs of the people.

Ajaero also warned that these protests may escalate if the government does not take immediate action to improve the welfare of its citizens.

Ajaero stressed that the NLC’s mission is to advocate for the greater good of the people and not to undermine the government.

He emphasized that the organization will not be intimidated by threats or violence and will continue to push for policies that benefit the people.

The NLC President’s call for a new minimum wage and his concerns about the rising hardship in Nigeria underscore the urgency of addressing the country’s economic challenges.

It is crucial for the government to take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of its citizens and implement policies that promote economic growth and social welfare.
