NLC Chair Olayinka to Tinubu: Seek Capable Hands for Economy, Security

In an interview at the Labour House in Ilorin on Tuesday, the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kwara State, Comrade Saheed Murtala Olayinka, advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek capable hands to handle the issues of economy and security in Nigeria.

Olayinka mentioned that there are brilliant and intelligent Nigerians who can change the narrative as the economy of the country takes a nosedive.

He emphasized that the President should look for people who know the job and give them the privilege and opportunity to serve the government.

The NLC Chairman pointed out that prices of goods and services continue to increase while the naira continues to fall, causing workers on fixed incomes to suffer.

On the issue of insecurity, he said that Nigerians don’t derive anything by jetting out of the country, as there is no place like home.

Olayinka urged the Federal Government to work more on the security issue and tighten the loopholes.

He expressed conviction that the first day of the nationwide planned protest must have sent a strong message to the authorities in government.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kwara State, Abdullateef Ahmed, described the current socio-economic situation as unacceptable generally.

The workers, led by the state chairman of NLC and other union leaders, marched peacefully to the Governor’s Office in Ilorin under the watchful eyes of police officers and returned to the Labour House on the first day of the protest.
