NIMC DG Urges Registration Agents to Comply with Data Law

Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has called on the commission’s Front End Registration Agents to comply with the data law to ensure the protection and security of citizens’ personal information.

During a recent meeting, Coker-Odusote emphasized the importance of adhering to the data law in order to maintain the integrity of the registration process and safeguard the privacy of individuals.

The Front End Registration Agents play a crucial role in the National Identity Management System, as they are responsible for enrolling citizens and issuing National Identification Numbers (NINs).

Compliance with the data law is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it ensures that the personal information collected during the registration process is handled securely and in accordance with the law.

This protects individuals from potential data breaches and identity theft. Secondly, it helps to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the data, which is vital for effective identity management and national planning.

The Director General’s call for compliance comes at a time when the protection of personal data is becoming increasingly important, both nationally and globally.

With the rapid advancement of technology and the increasing prevalence of cyber threats, it is more important than ever to ensure that personal information is handled responsibly and in accordance with the law.

In response to the Director General’s call, the Front End Registration Agents have been advised to review their processes and procedures to ensure that they are fully compliant with the data law.

This includes ensuring that all employees are properly trained and that the necessary security measures are in place to protect personal information.

The National Identity Management Commission remains committed to ensuring the security and protection of personal data, and the Director General’s call for compliance is a clear indication of this commitment.

By working together with the Front End Registration Agents, the commission hopes to create a secure and reliable identity management system that will benefit all citizens.
