The NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Seplat Energy Joint Venture (JV) have once again demonstrated their commitment to advancing education in their host communities through the Seplat Educational Empowerment Drive (SEED).

The initiative, aimed at improving educational infrastructure and providing learning tools, made a significant impact on October 17, 2024, at Onyeburu Primary School in Jesse, Delta State, where educational materials were distributed to seven primary schools across the state.

This year’s theme, “Igniting Potential, Inspiring Excellence: Advancing Education for a Brighter Tomorrow,” reflects the JV’s ongoing dedication to fostering educational growth.

Representing the Managing Director, Western Assets, Seplat Energy, Ayodele Olatunde, and Base Manager, Western Assets, Seplat Energy, Kingsley Udebor, Stanley Opara, Manager of Corporate Communications at Seplat Energy, delivered an address emphasizing the vital role of education in building human potential and promoting sustainable communities. "At Seplat, we believe education is the bedrock of strong communities and thriving societies," Opara remarked. "The SEED programme goes beyond donating learning materials. It’s about sparking a passion for learning and inspiring a relentless pursuit of excellence."

Opara encouraged the students to embrace the future, stating, “Everything we do today is to equip you with the tools and confidence to achieve greatness.”

Education is key, and today’s event shows their dedication to our communities," the monarch said.

Mrs. Faith Otitinor, NEPL’s Community Liaison Officer, reaffirmed the JV’s commitment to empowering local communities through education, noting that the initiative aims to equip young people with the skills needed to compete globally and break cycles of poverty.

Comrade Iwonisa Freeborn, the headmaster of Onyeburu Primary School, expressed his gratitude, stating that the new equipment would allow students to focus more on their studies, while parents would benefit from the free textbooks. "This is a great development, and it will certainly enhance the learning experience for our students," he said.

Primary five student Felix Oghenekevwe also shared his appreciation, saying, “We are very happy to receive these gifts from Seplat. Thank you!”
