NELFUND to Connect Student Loan Beneficiaries with Recruitment Agencies for Employment Opportunities

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced plans to collaborate with recruitment agencies to provide employment opportunities for beneficiaries of the student loan scheme.

The Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyer, revealed this initiative during a recent meeting with the Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG) in Lagos.

Sawyer emphasized that providing direct employment opportunities for student loan beneficiaries would facilitate the repayment process.

According to the plan, beneficiaries are expected to start repaying their loans two years after completing the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).

However, those who secure employment earlier can begin repaying their loans before the stipulated period.

The NELFUND program aims to ensure that Nigerian undergraduates struggling with tuition fees can complete their academic pursuits.

To ensure a seamless application process, Sawyer stated that students would be able to access the loan through their respective institutions.

In addition, NELFUND is seeking the support of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure transparency in the disbursement process.

This collaboration will help maintain accountability and prevent corruption within the student loan scheme.

By connecting student loan beneficiaries with recruitment agencies, NELFUND is taking a proactive approach to assist students in securing employment after graduation.

This initiative will not only help students repay their loans but also contribute to the overall development and growth of Nigeria's workforce.
