Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation in Taraba State. On June 13, 2026, they recovered 1,121.5 kilograms of cannabis from a warehouse in Maihula town.
The bust occurred in Bali Local Government Area during an intelligence-led raid. Investigators seized 70 bags of Cannabis sativa in the operation.
A 45-year-old man named Ali Adamu was arrested at the scene. He remains in NDLEA custody assisting with the investigation.
Javanson Talayedi Kwalma, the Taraba State Commander of NDLEA, called it a landmark achievement. He noted the seizure represents one of the command's biggest operational successes since its creation.
According to him, the operation demonstrates the agency's resolve to dismantle trafficking networks. "The seizure reflects our unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking," Kwalma stated.
He emphasized the goal is protecting residents from the dangers of illicit drugs. Investigators are working to identify other suspects connected to the operation.
Officials commended several key figures for the success. These included NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd) and Taraba Governor Dr Agbu Kefas.
The agency also praised officers involved in the raid and members of the public. Their intelligence tips helped crack the case.
NDLEA says it'll intensify efforts against drug trafficking across the state. The command vowed to strengthen community protection measures going forward.
