Louis Saha has come down hard on Jadon Sancho. The former Manchester United striker calls him the club's most disappointing signing ever.
Sancho arrived at Old Trafford for £73 million in 2021. He managed just 12 goals across 83 appearances before loans to Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa.
United's spending since Sir Alex Ferguson retired has been massive. Yet the results have remained modest, with no Premier League titles since 2013.
Pogba, Antony, Sancho, Lukaku, and Hojlund each cost above £70 million. None has lived up to their price tag, alongside defender Harry Maguire.
Saha told BetVictor his thoughts on the winger's struggles. "I believe Jadon Sancho is the most disappointing signing in Manchester United history," he said.
At Borussia Dortmund, Sancho showed genuine class. Saha noted this made his Old Trafford failure particularly baffling.
According to Saha, it's been a real mystery. "He did not come close to reaching his peak," the ex-striker explained.
Saha reckons Sancho needs a fresh start elsewhere. He compared the situation to Marcus Rashford's own struggles and recovery.
The former France international reflected on his own career. Despite injuries, he wished he'd played as much as Sancho at his age.
"I was truly fortunate to have been a football player," Saha noted. He emphasized Sancho's immense talent and ability to do remarkable things.
What happened at United remains unclear to Saha. "It seemed like a mystery," he told the betting site.
Saha expressed genuine disappointment about Sancho's situation. He clearly believed the winger possessed all the tools to succeed at the club.
Sancho's contract with United runs until summer. He's set to leave when his deal expires this season.
The 24-year-old has already spent time away on loan. His future now lies away from Old Trafford.
