Make Imo Drug-Free – Uzodinma’s Aide Urges Residents

The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring, Ezechukwu Obonna, has called on the people of Imo State to join hands in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

The appeal came during a sensitization program held at Obizi Community, Ezinihitte Local Government Area, on Thursday.

Obonna emphasized the commitment of the state government to create a drug-free Imo and highlighted the establishment of a rehabilitation center for victims of drug abuse.

He urged the youth to avoid wrong influences capable of jeopardizing their future and to steer clear of illicit drugs.

The Special Adviser’s call to action comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and its associated criminal activities.

The program, organized in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), aimed to raise awareness among the residents, particularly the youth, on the dangers of drug abuse and its consequences.

According to the NDLEA, drug abuse and trafficking are major challenges in Nigeria, with many young people falling prey to the menace.

The agency has been working tirelessly to curb the problem, and the collaboration with the Imo State government is a step in the right direction.
