Ahead of July 13th council polls in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairmanship Candidate Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, for Ika South Local Government Area yesterday, Monday, kicked off its wards' campaigns assuring that when elected, his focus will be on security, infrastructural development.
The Campaign train which visited Wards 1, 2, and 3, where they were received by large crowds of party faithful and enthusiastic supporters of PDP, promised the people of Ika south of effective leadership.
Speaking at the events, the Chairman of Ika South Campaign Council, Chief Wilson Oni Agbobu, said the election should be seen by the youths as an opportunity to assert themselves by supporting all the candidates who are mostly youths.
He emphasized that, "this council election has offered our young men and women the opportunity to prove that they are ready to assume leadership. I want you to accept this challenge, and send out a clear and strong message that you are well prepared for the role before you by ensuring that our candidates are elected into the various positions through landslide victory."
He appealed to them to always conduct themselves responsibly, adding that leadership comes with a lot of challenges and expectations from the people.
On his part, the party's chairmanship candidate, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, assured that he will not disappoint the people of Ika South, saying that with the political and administrative experiences earned over the years, he is well suited for the job.
He disclosed that his major focus will be on arresting the rising insecurity and improving infrastructure in the local government area, adding that his administration will be fair and equitable.
He called on party members to mobilize the electorate to vote for PDP.
Other leaders who spoke, including, Comrade Amechi Igumbor, Ika South PDP chairman; Hon. Sunny Ogwu and Hon. Godwin Ezedom, harped on the need for every member of the party to work for the success of the party in the election.
The major highlight of the events was presentation of councillorship candidates in the different wards.
