Lawan Calls for Swift Investigation into Alleged Civilian Killings in Yobe

Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, representing Yobe North, has demanded a thorough investigation into the military/civilian clash in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area in Yobe State.

The clash allegedly resulted in the tragic deaths of three civilians at the hands of soldiers.

Lawan’s call for an investigation comes in the wake of a violent incident in which soldiers reportedly opened fire indiscriminately into groups of protesters who were approaching their checkpoint near Gashua bridge.

The protesters were demonstrating against the killing of a tricycle operator by the soldiers.

In a statement, Lawan emphasized the need for swift action by the Nigerian Army to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and brought to justice.

He highlighted the peaceful nature of the Gashua community and urged residents to remain calm while the investigation is underway.

The former Senate President has already spoken with military authorities to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and dealt with according to the law.

He emphasized the importance of justice being served for the victims and their families.

Lawan expressed his deep sadness over the tragic event and called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He urged the community of Gashua to remain peaceful and united during this difficult time.

The demand for an investigation into the alleged civilian killings in Yobe by Lawan underscores the importance of accountability and justice in the face of violence and tragedy.
