Kwara's opposition Peoples Democratic Party has attacked the state APC chairman over what it calls propaganda. Prince Sunday Fagbemi went on TVC to defend Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's record, the PDP said.
The party's Assistant Publicity Secretary, Bashir Ashura, issued a statement in Ilorin on Friday hitting back hard. Fagbemi chose spin over substance, he noted, while Kwarans suffer from insecurity and poverty.
Before 2019, Kwara enjoyed relative peace across the state. Today, that's no longer true, the PDP contended.
Communities in Baruten, Kaiama, Edu, Patigi and Ifelodun now face constant kidnappings and bandit attacks. Residents can't sleep peacefully anymore, the party said.
Calling the security crisis "artificial" disrespects those who've died, according to the PDP statement. The pain of victims and families cannot be written off as election politics, it added.
Fagbemi boasted about achievements without explaining where money went, the opposition party charged. Government records show Kwara's internally generated revenue jumped from ₦30.6 billion in 2019 to over ₦69 billion in 2024.
Federal allocations also increased significantly following fuel subsidy removal. Yet ordinary citizens see no real improvements, the PDP argued.
Schools remain poorly resourced and healthcare is inadequate across the state. Job creation has stalled while rural areas get neglected, the party said.
Instead of transparent accounting, the administration operates in secrecy, the PDP charged. Journalists and activists face intimidation for demanding answers, it noted.
Fagbemi's claim about functional health centres in every ward doesn't match reality on the ground. Many rural clinics lack staff and equipment, the statement said.
The PDP also dismissed talk of a third-term agenda as absurd. Kwarans understand the succession plan comes from fear of legal exposure, it argued.
Democracy requires genuine leadership renewal, not political control from above. Voters will judge the APC by actual results, not television advertisements, the party declared.
As 2027 approaches, lived experience will matter more than political messaging. Kwarans know what they've endured under this administration.
Their verdict won't change based on spin, the PDP insisted.
"APC Must Go," the party concluded.
