Peter Obi's media team has dismissed a Lokoja High Court ruling on the NDC's registration status as merely a temporary hurdle. According to a statement released Friday, his camp plans to mount a legal challenge.
Idris Zekeri Jnr, spokesperson for Peter Obi Media Reach, signed the statement. He noted that inquiries have flooded in from journalists and concerned Nigerians since the judgment.
Obi's supporters are being urged to remain patient and calm. His legal team is currently reviewing the court's decision before filing an appeal, the statement explained.
In his words: "While our legal teams are thoroughly reviewing the judgment to initiate immediate corrective and appellate measures, our Principal urges all our supporters, coalition partners, and patriots nationwide to remain absolutely calm and focused."
The media office described the ruling as "bizarre." They've characterized it as a brief setback rather than a final defeat for their political ambitions.
According to Obi's camp, systemic obstacles were always expected. They view this court decision as part of broader resistance from Nigeria's political establishment.
The group maintains its goal remains unchanged despite the legal setback. They're committed to building what they describe as an alternative political platform for Nigerians.
Supporters have been assured the party hasn't been permanently deregistered. Officials say the legal battle will continue in the coming weeks.
