...As Emeyese, Omeru, Agbonmiyeri, Oghenesivbe, Omovie intensify mobilization efforts
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kokori Ward 6, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, has distributed ₦27.7 million as empowerment funds and Christmas gifts to its members. The initiative was spearheaded by the Ward 6 College of Leaders as a gesture to appreciate loyal members and strengthen the party’s dominance in the ward and beyond.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman of the College of Leaders and PDP Ward 6 Leader, Rt. Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, emphasized that the leaders raised the funds collectively to support party members during the festive season. He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to maintain its political dominance in Ward 6 and across the state under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership.
Commending Governor Oborevwori for his impactful governance, Rt. Hon. Emeyese highlighted the governor’s numerous road construction projects in Kokori Ward 6 and other parts of the state, as well as key political appointments from the ward. These, he noted, are testaments to the administration's commitment to development and inclusivity.
Addressing recent defections, including that of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, former PDP representative for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Emeyese assured members that the defections pose no threat to the party’s stronghold. He called on defectors to reconsider their decisions, adding that the PDP remains open to welcoming them back unconditionally.

“This ₦27.7 million empowerment is from the College of Leaders, distributed across 27 units based on registered voters. Larger units will receive between ₦1.7 million and ₦1.8 million, while smaller units with less than 30 members will receive between ₦100,000 and ₦500,000. Unit leaders will disburse the funds at their usual meeting locations on December 24,” Emeyese stated. He further pledged that the ward leadership would sustain empowerment initiatives at regular intervals.
Other leaders of the College, including Chief James Omeru, Chief Bernard Agbonmiyeri, Dr. (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, and Chief (Barr.) Omovie, commended the visionary leadership of Governor Oborevwori. They expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in 2027, asserting that PDP Ward 6 Kokori will deliver overwhelming support for the governor and the party at the polls.
Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, downplayed the significance of the recent defections, describing them as inconsequential. “The few who left with her [Ibori-Suenu] were misled, and we are confident many will return soon. We are determined to cripple the APC in Ward 6 Kokori,” Oghenesivbe declared.
He added, “This ₦27.7 million is just a tip of the iceberg. At the right time, we will show those who betrayed us that PDP remains the political landlord of Ethiope East and Delta State.”
As 2027 approaches, the leadership of PDP Ward 6 Kokori has reiterated its commitment to grassroots mobilization and strategic engagement to maintain its dominance and ensure victory at the next general elections.
