Kano State Government Allocates N5.32 Billion for Government House Renovations and Meals

The Kano State Government has announced the allocation of N5.32 billion for the renovation of the Government House and meals in its 2023 supplementary budget and 2024 budget.

The announcement was made by Governor Abba Yusuf, who presented the budget to the Kano State House of Assembly on February 17, 2024.

The budget, titled “Budget of Restoration and Transformation,” aims to address various sectors in the state, with education receiving the highest allocation of N95.3 billion.

The allocation for the Government House renovations and meals is a significant portion of the total budget, which stands at N350 billion.

According to Governor Yusuf, the budget is in line with the campaign promises made to the people of Kano State and will focus on seven key areas, including human capital development, promoting welfare, providing security, infrastructure development, food security, and job creation.

The allocation of N5.32 billion for the Government House renovations and meals has sparked some debate among the public, with some questioning the necessity of such a large sum for these purposes.

However, Governor Yusuf has defended the allocation, stating that it is necessary to maintain the Government House and provide meals for officials, which in turn supports the smooth functioning of the state government.
