JAMB Warns 2024 UTME Candidates Against Fraudsters, Orders Arrest of Parents Near Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to candidates writing the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) against sharing their details with fraudsters.

The board’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, gave this advice during a monitoring exercise at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari on Friday.

According to Oloyede, the 2024 UTME is a crucial examination for the board, as they have successfully implemented new measures to combat fraud and ensure a smooth examination process.

He emphasized that fraudsters are now aware of the increased security measures and that they are in trouble.

In addition to warning candidates, the JAMB Registrar also appealed to parents to refrain from causing disruptions during the examination process.

He noted that in previous years, parents had been a source of problems for students during the exams.

The board has also assured candidates who experienced technical issues during the examination that they would be rescheduled to write their exams at a later date.

Oloyede highlighted that, overall, the examination process has been going smoothly, with only one centre reported to have had problems.

As the examination process continues, JAMB has urged the public to be understanding and patient with any issues that may arise, acknowledging that some centres may experience difficulties due to varying levels of development across the country.

By issuing these warnings and taking proactive measures to combat fraud and ensure a fair examination process, JAMB aims to provide a level playing field for all candidates and maintain the integrity of the UTME.
