The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has presented a supplementary budget of N2,002,754,703.36 for the 2024 fiscal year to the legislative arm for consideration and approval.
During a sitting session presided over by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Friday Olokor, Warri emphasized his commitment to running a transparent and inclusive administration focused on infrastructural development. He highlighted education, healthcare, agricultural revival, and youth and women empowerment as key areas of focus in the supplementary budget.
"We assumed office a few months ago and immediately recognized the need for a supplementary budget to address urgent priorities in Isoko South. We deemed it necessary to present this budget to avoid overspending beyond the yearly fiscal allocation," Warri explained.
In response, Legislative Leader Friday Olokor assured the Chairman that the 8th Isoko South Legislative Arm would expedite the review and passage of the budget. He also expressed gratitude for the recent supply of new furniture to the legislative arm and pledged the councillors' continued support in advancing the administration's goals, in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's "MORE Agenda."
The supplementary budget presentation was attended by key officials, including Vice Chairperson Theresa Ikrike, Special Adviser to the Chairman Chief Efe Okolosi-Ozoro, Chief Raphael Onowotu, HPM Mrs. M.I. Ofogboro, HOD Budget Mrs. B.M. Okoro, and Supervising Councillor for Agriculture Goodluck Abedi, among others.
In a separate development, Comrade Warri urged youths to steer clear of hard drugs and illicit substances. During a courtesy visit from the Isoko National Youth Congress, led by President Abel Edigbe, Warri emphasized the importance of resisting peer pressure and making positive life choices.
"Together, we must reject drug abuse and contribute to a society free from substance dependence. Combating this issue requires the collective effort of parents, educators, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and every stakeholder. It's not solely the government's responsibility but a shared commitment," Warri stated.
