The chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has declared that the council is now a hub of peace, with security challenges successfully addressed.
Ogorugba made this known on Thursday while hosting the Isoko North Traditional Rulers Council in his office in Ozoro, the council’s headquarters. He highlighted that both Ozoro and Owhelogbo, which were previously hotspots for disturbances, have now enjoyed sustained peace. He commended the traditional rulers for their role in fostering unity and stability within their domains.
"I can assure you that Isoko North Local Government is peaceful and safe. We have successfully curtailed recent clashes in Ozoro and resolved issues in Owhelogbo. Some individuals involved have been apprehended, and investigations are ongoing. I have engaged community leaders to encourage cooperation with security agencies, and this process is progressing well," Ogorugba stated.
The council chairman, popularly referred to as the "digital performing chairman," emphasized that security in the area has been reinforced. He expressed gratitude to the state commissioner of police for the prompt reinforcement of the police presence and urged the monarchs to continue collaborating with the government to sustain peace.
The meeting was attended by key traditional rulers, including HRM Romanus Ejirememe Inana (Odiologbo of Owhe Kingdom), HRM Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo Ibuka I (Ovie of Ozoro Kingdom), HRM F.O Agbabe JP Ekpolo II (Ovie of Okpe Isoko Kingdom), HRM Othuke Murphy Urugbezi JP Ogwara I (Ovie of Ellu Kingdom), and HRM Matthew Ikpoku, Orie II (Odiologbo of Ofagbe Kingdom).
Isoko North Pledges Overwhelming Support for Oborevwori in 2027
In another development, Ogorugba reaffirmed his unwavering support for Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s reelection in 2027.
Speaking on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the 25 local government chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Ogorugba confidently declared that the people of Isoko North would deliver an overwhelming victory for Oborevwori in the upcoming elections.
“Come 2027, the election will be Sheriff versus Sheriff. The governor’s impressive developmental strides across the state have positioned him far ahead of any potential contenders,” he said.
He urged party members to remain united and committed to the PDP’s success, emphasizing that Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda continues to benefit the state.
“For us in Isoko North, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will secure more votes in 2027 than ever before. Our leadership is fully committed to working tirelessly for the party’s success at all levels,” Ogorugba added.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Efe Okoledo, chairman of the PDP Uvwie Local Government chapter and leader of the chairmen, appreciated Ogorugba for the warm reception. He noted that, as Isoko North was the first to host their federal constituency meetings, visiting the council was essential given Ogorugba’s previous role as their colleague.
