Inter Miami has secured young defender Fricio Caicedo from LDU Quito. The move snatches him away from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp at the last minute.
Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on social media. "Deal in place for the 2008-born center-back who was on the verge of joining Royal Antwerp… and is now heading to Inter Miami," Romano wrote.
"Hijack accomplished."
Royal Antwerp had been pursuing Caicedo since December 2025. Ecuador-based reports suggested the Belgian club secured his signature for a July 2026 arrival.
Caicedo rose through Ecuador's youth ranks at multiple levels. Coach Sebastián Beccacece invited him to first-team training back in May 2025.
His senior call-up came just recently. Ecuador's national team included him in their training camp stateside ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He made his international debut on 30 May 2026. Caicedo entered the match as a substitute during Ecuador's 2–1 friendly win over Saudi Arabia, replacing Pervis Estupiñán.
Inter Miami's MLS squad now adds another prospect to its roster. The American club continues building depth in its defensive line.
