House of Reps Urges NEMA to Provide Relief for Storm-Ravaged Communities in Nasarawa State

In response to a recent devastating rainstorm in the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State, the House of Representatives has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide urgent relief materials to affected communities, schools, and individuals.

The House also called for the reconstruction of destroyed schools and the rehabilitation of those affected by the storm.

The motion was brought forward by Rep. Jeremiah Umaru, who expressed concern over the extensive damage caused by the rainstorm.

The storm not only destroyed homes and disrupted education in several communities but also left many people displaced and in need of immediate intervention in the form of medical supplies, temporary shelters, and reconstruction efforts to restore their communities to a habitable state.

Schools such as Government Girls’ College, Wamba, and Government Science School, Wamba, were among the many institutions severely affected by the storm, with damages estimated to be worth millions of naira.

The House of Representatives recognized the dire situation faced by the affected communities and emphasized the urgency of NEMA’s intervention.

As NEMA begins to provide relief materials and assistance to the affected areas, the House of Representatives has taken a crucial step in addressing the aftermath of the devastating rainstorm.

The prompt response by the government will help affected communities in their recovery and ensure that students can return to their schools and resume their education.
