Group alleges secret plot to blackmail Akpabio, NDDC’s IMC

A Niger Delta group, Ijaw stakeholders for Good Governance, has alleged a secret plot by some leaders from the region to blackmail the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Interim Management Committee of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.

The group, disclosed this in a press statement issued by Mr. Ebiye Coleman, President and Mr. Lazarus Anthony, Spokesman.

Statement read ” a lot of people from Niger Delta region have made or appointed Managing Directors in the commission. Whenever, their tenure expired or releived of their positions they thanked the President for the opportunity given to them to serve. We are most grateful to President Buhari that in his time, some issues like working without NYSC or forged documents were looked into and handled accordingly. .Everybody should allow peace to reign in the region”.

It said ” we have uncovered underhand game plan and plot to use the media to smear the good image and reputation of Senator Godswill Akpabio. The plan is to make up frivolous allegations against Akpabio with the intention to instigate the people of Niger Delta against the Minsiter, who is doing everything possible to transform the oil rich region”

” We want to use this opportunity to warn those behind the blackmail to rescind and stop the unholy act. Also, we shall not hesitate to expose some officials in NDDC, particularly, top officials that were recently reposted in NDDC, we are aware of their phone calls, meetings and engagement of paper tigers to blackmail Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Interim Management Committee of NDDC”.

The gruop continued ” they have been warned because we will not keep quite and allow them to destroy the reputation of Godswill Akpabio, who has done nothing wrong. If they ( NDDC officials) continue to smear the image of Akpabio, we shall expose to Nigerians how they allegedly made billions from corrupt practices in NDDC, and acquired properties in parts of the country”.
