Governor Adeleke Orders Probe into Suspension of College of Education Provost

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has directed an immediate investigation into the suspension of Professor Jimoh Afolabi, the Provost of the Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun.

The suspension, which was announced on January 8, 2024, has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the transparency and accountability of the college’s management.

The Governing Council of the institution, led by its Chairman, Peter Babalola, cited various infractions and allegations of misappropriation as reasons for the suspension.

The Council also accused the Provost of concealing documents to frustrate their efforts to investigate the matter.

Governor Adeleke, in response to the suspension, has set up a small committee to investigate the matter. The committee includes the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the State Government, and Commissioner for Education.

The Governor has instructed the committee to look into the subject of controversies and ensure an amicable resolution of the crisis.

The Governor has also warned that anyone implicated in any wrongdoing, financial mismanagement, or corrupt conduct will face heavy sanctions.

He has stated that he will not shield anyone, no matter how high their position may be.
