Gov Okowa presents Staff of office to Ovie of Idjerhe, HRM Monday Whiskey; charges him to be fair to all

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has presented the staff of office to the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government area of Delta State, Udurhie 1, His Royal Majesty Monday Obukowho Whiskey.

 

The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro described the event as ‘memorable and historic’.

 

Okowa, who congratulated Whiskey on the special honour bestowed on him, also urged the people of the Kingdom to support the monarch to safeguard the sanctity of the sacred institution, adding that the Kingdom will begin to experience a new dawn.

 

He said the institution of traditional Ovieship remained a rallying point, adding that it had served as a source of disseminating government policies and mobilisation of persons.

 

Former House of Rep member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Halims Agoda, a chief in the kingdom, said it was the dawn of a new day, calling on all sons and daughters of the kingdom to support the new monarch.

 

Lady Judith Akpomejawe Nwachukwu, former Deputy Chairman, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, and daughter of Idjerhe Kingdom, urged the monarch to carry everybody along so as to make his tenure peaceful and prosperous.

 

Whiskey thanked Okowa for approving his staff of office. He hailed him for his dynamic leadership and passion to take Idjerhe community to a new dawn.

 

He also promised to carry his subjects along, saying he would not disappoint them.
