A Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media and Director General of the "Connecting with Vulnerable Deltans through Traditional and Modern Media Channels" initiative, Ambassador Ese Joshua Emadifie, has extended his humanitarian outreach to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Okuama, Ewu-Urhobo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

During the visit, Amb. Emadifie and his team provided educational materials and cartons of assorted biscuits to the camp's residents, aiming to support their educational needs of the children at the camp and general well-being.

Addressing the camp's residents, Amb. Emadifie outlined the purpose of the visit: "We are here today as part of our 'traditional media representation' initiative to engage with you, understand your challenges, and relay them directly to the governor. Our mission goes beyond just providing educational supplies; we are also committed to empowering women through skill acquisition programs, in line with the MORE Agenda of our governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori."

Highlighting the governor's inspiration behind their efforts, he added, "Our activities today are a direct reflection of the governor's values and commitment. The items we’ve provided, the empowerment initiatives we’ve launched, and the educational materials—all of these are from him."

Amb. Emadifie also took the opportunity to acknowledge the potential among the camp's youth. "There are many things’ people often overlook, but I believe that some of the children here have the talent to one day represent Nigeria in football. I want the governor to know that the people here are very appreciative."

Elaborating on the goals of his initiative, he continued, "As the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, I've chosen to leverage traditional media channels, which is why our project is called 'Connecting with Vulnerable Deltans through Traditional and Modern Channels.' Our objective is to reach out to all three senatorial districts, promote the MORE Agenda, listen to the people's concerns, and ensure that everyone feels included and hopeful under the Sheriff administration."

Receiving the donations on behalf of the camp, the Chairman of Okuama-Ewu IDP Camp Management Committee, Mr. Abraham Ogbodo, expressed his gratitude. "I feel incredibly uplifted by this gesture, which underscores the idea that humanity transcends race, ethnicity, religion, and geography. When people face tragedy, the world must unite to support them because the pain is universal."

Ogbodo, a former editor of The Guardian Newspaper, further reflected, "In times of crisis, the strong should use their resources to support the weak. That is the essence of a functioning society—not the strong overpowering the weak."

While appreciating the assistance received, he emphasized the ultimate goal of resettling the displaced persons back to their ancestral homes. "Though this process is gradual, the government is actively working on it," he said.

He concluded by acknowledging the broader significance of the visit: "Today, we’ve received support for our basic needs, but more importantly, we’ve also received psychological and emotional encouragement. That’s what Ambassador Emadifie has brought to us today."
