Governor Seyi Makinde says rescuing abducted students and teachers in Oyo State will require a special military operation. He made the pledge on Tuesday while addressing angry protesters at the Government House.

Terrorists raided schools in Yawota and Esiele communities last month. They kidnapped over 40 pupils and teachers from the Oriire Local Government Area.

Social media personality VeryDarkMan led the mass protest to demand action. Crowds marched to the governor's office seeking immediate intervention.

Makinde told the gathered demonstrators that rescue efforts are underway. "This operation is a special type of operation," he noted while speaking to reporters.

According to him, he's committed to bringing the children home safely. "As Governor, I give you assurance that we will bring back those children," Makinde added.
