Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has solicited the federal government’s support to revive the state’s moribund oil palm industry..

The governor expressed his desire to collaborate with the federal government in order to breathe new life into the sector, which has been largely dormant for the past three decades.

The oil palm industry, once a major contributor to Nigeria's economy, has the potential to create numerous job opportunities and boost the nation's foreign exchange earnings.

Governor Eno believes that with the right support, the state can once again become a major player in the oil palm market.

During the meeting, Governor Eno highlighted the importance of the Ibom Deep Sea Port project, which would facilitate the export of palm oil and other agricultural products.

He also emphasized the need for the federal government to support the state's efforts in reviving the oil palm industry.

President Tinubu, in response, directed the governor to submit a detailed proposal outlining the state's needs and plans for the oil palm sector.

The President also expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives that would promote economic growth and development in the Niger Delta region.
