Former President Jonathan Urges Prayers for His Mother at Sister’s Burial

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called upon the nation to pray for his mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan, and his family following the recent death of his elder sister, Madam Obebhatein.

Jonathan expressed his deep concern for his mother’s well-being, as the loss of his sister has left her severely traumatized.

Madam Obebhatein, who passed away on January 11, 2024, at the age of 70, was the only surviving sibling from their aged mother. During the burial in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Friday, Jonathan emphasized the importance of time when it comes to death.

He acknowledged that although everyone must eventually pass, the timing of such an event can significantly impact those left behind.

The former President expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State First Lady and other women who have provided support to his mother during this difficult time.

He also thanked the gathering of celebrities who came to celebrate his sister’s life, but he lamented that his mother would now have to be mourned by her first child, rather than the other way around.

Jonathan has asked the nation to continue praying for his mother, as she remains deeply affected by the loss of her daughter.

He believes that with the help of God and the support of the community, his mother will eventually find peace and comfort in this time of grief.
